[vinnomot] One samll bad news can wipe off the Bangladesh Pharmaceuticals Industries.

I have asked Bangladesh Govt to have strict oversight on the Pharmaceuticals industries time and time again.  Nobody is listening when Bangladesh Drug Administration is run by Lobbyist in Bangladesh.

I am asking again to Bangladesh Govt to implement strict oversight to save this sector which is one of the lifeline for Bangladesh.

Dutch doctors uncover fake Bangladesh medicine

Tuesday 23 September 2008

Two Dutch doctors from the Slotervaart hospital in Amsterdam appear to have stumbled on a medical scandal in Bangladesh, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.

The doctors were carrying out research into the medicine Miltefosine which is used to treat the infectious disease Leishmaniasis (also known as black fever).

But they discovered that hundreds of patients are being treated with a so-called drug without any active ingredients.

The fake medicine is produced by a local factory. The Bangladesh authorities have been informed. Miltefosine is produced by German drugs firm Zentaris.
