Continuing Outreach in Baltimore: Jamaat al-Muslimeen Rejects Recognition of Israel, Condemns Pakistani Bombing in Bajaur and Swat
September 5, 2008: An eight page document was given to 75 people after Friday prayers at a masjid in northeastern Baltimore which is largely attended by Arab Muslims with a sprinkling of Pakistanis. Ten of the recipients were women.
The brochure listed the resolutions passed by Jamaat al-Muslimeen's Shoora at the conclusion of the August 16 International Conference for peace. One of the resolutions urged Palestinians to reject the so-called Two State solution and to unite against Israel. Other resolutions supported the new uprising of Kashmiris against Indian occupation and condemned the mass exodus of cvilians from Bajaur and Swat after extensive attacks by the U.S.-backed Pakistani air force and heavy artillery.
The Shoora is also demanding that ALL Islamic political prisoners in U.S. prisons, including Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, the Blind Shaikh [Dr. Omar 'Abdel Rahman], Ahmed Abdel Sattar, Imam Jamil al-Amin and Dr. Ali Timimi be released because their trials are bogus.

Canadian Response to the August 16 Peace Conference
Greetings Dr. Kaukab Siddique,
Thank you for inviting me to the Conference. I enjoyed my stay in Baltimore and appreciate the effort that you and the other members made to ensure that I arrived and departed safely. I came away impressed with the work that you are doing in the community. I had the opportunity to meet several people who I will remain in contact with. I have read your online magazine and will share the information with people in Toronto.

JAM Gets Gift of Valuable Books and DVD about Israel and Christian Zionism
Jamaat al-Muslimeen thanks Tom Compton who came to the International Islamic Peace conference all the way from Arizona. He donated an entire box filled with copies of a book titled One Nation Under Israel by Andrew Hurley, 310 pages. It's a well produced, documented and educational book which explains in unanswerable detail how the Israelis took over America.
Mr. Compton also gave us a DVD of Charles Carlson's work titled: "The Roots of Christian Zionism." It explains, in part, how the Zionists tampered with the Bible to justify the occupation of Palestine.
We have distributed some of the books and tapes already. We are willing to send them free to readers in exchange for a small donation to cover postage and handling. Send to: Jamaat al-Muslimeen, POB 10881, Baltimore, MD 21234

Book Review
THE BOOK ON THE WAR AGAINST IRAQ
by Husayn Al-Kurdi [San Diego, California]
The history of the US war against Iraq has been written. It is titled "The Mother of All Battles" (ISBN # 978-0-976-3366-1-7, available from:
The Alternative
8130 La Mesa Blvd., PMB 436
La Mesa, CA 91941
USA
plus $6.95 postage and handling U.S.: $12.95 outside U.S
written by the redoubtable Jeff Archer, also known as cyber blogger Malcom Lagauche.
Many English-language volumes have been produced purporting to be an account of US-led depredations against Iraq. None has taken the side of the Iraqi people and their government. None have accurately reported the extent of Iraqi suffering and the ways and means devised to bring about the genocide and subjugation of that land and its people. None have given a positive account of the Ba'ath and the Resistance led by it, something almost never mentioned anywhere in the "media", which turn out to be mouthpieces for the war party and may more accurately be described as "repeaters" rather than as "reporters".
Archer is a throwback: he is not a repeater but he is one of the outstanding investigative reporters, journalists and commentators of our time. He writes a column every few days on his web-site to constantly re=prove this point. He has actually investigated his subject, cross-checking facts and tracking down sources of information in the course of a rigorous hunt for the truth. To top it all off, he presents his findings in a clear, conversational style which keeps the reader turning the page and results in torrents of gratitude coming his way from many readers whose media-shut eyes have been opened as a result of his labors.
This book tells the whole story of the US war against Iraq. It is a piece of reportage which is definitive in coverage and unambiguous in its findings. He traces the spoliation and destruction directed against Iraq to the advent of the Arab Ba'ath Socialist Party and its now-martyred leader Saddam Hussein and the social progress, independent and anti-Imperialist, pro-Arab liberation government and society it struggled to create, and did create until the Jewish "neo-cons" and others had their way and ordered its destruction. As one-time Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said,"It was worth it", when informed of the murder of over a million Iraqi women and children as a result of the brutal "sanctions" policy imposed on it by the Jewish and USA-controlled UN System.
The whole story of the Iran-Iraq war, the 1991 war to "free Kuwait", the 12 years of blockade and sabotage that ensued, and finally the criminal invasion and occupation of Iraq from 2003 to the present, are herein told authoritatively, from the "inside" and with all the references attached for those who would claim scholarship in the field. No reputable library, whether public, scholastic or private, should be without it. No serious course in any way related to the Middle East, Criminal Justice, US Foreign Policy, International Relations and Law, Contemporary History, the Arab world or Islam can overlook it, unless they want to adopt the hegemonic "repeater" line praising the invader and denigrating the occupied land and its inhabitants.
Besides the excellent historical narrative, the book is sumptuously illustrated with original photographs. In one of them, Chicago-based journalist Ali Baghdadi is examining an American missile which has just struck the al-Rashid Hotel in downtown Baghdad. The appendices form a historical record which buttresses the text, including such items as the transcript of the pre-1991 invasion meeting between Saddam Hussein and American Ambassador April Glaspie, information on the Iranian activities which led to the Iran-Iraq war, an outline of the "bargains and offers" refused by Saddam Hussein during his captivity, interview of Iraqis held at Abu Ghraib prison and evidence from a US Marine Corps report showing that IRAN gas-bombed the Kurdish village of Halabja, not Iraq as was widely "repeated".
Jeff takes us inside the Ba'ath and gives us a true picture of Saddam Hussein as revolutionary and resistance leader, thinker and fighter. He gives us details on the burning of wheat fields, the unleashing of insects and the injection of vast amounts of counterfeit currency into Iraq. He takes us on the "Highway of Death" as countless Iraqis and others are massacred as they attempt to flee in 1991 and we are told of the one-shot murder of a thousand civilians in an air-raid shelter at Amiriyah in Baghdad. Jeff takes us back in history and shows the genocidal continuity if US policies, with their origins in the extermination of the "Indians" of North America.
This is contemporary history as it should be written, by a highly skilled, courageous and conscientious writer, fearlessly bent on digging out the facts and letting the consequences speak for themselves. No literate, thinking person who cares about Iraq or the fate of the world should be without this book, to read through and to constantly refer to as the definitive source on its subject, which is the front line today of the global war against the "globalizers" and their vicious system.

WAR NEWS: Pakistan Violates Ramadan
4th U.S. Attack inside Pakistan while U.S.-backed Pak troops attack Islamic villages from Within: Heavy Retaliation near Peshawar
September 8, 2008: As we go to the press, U.S. forces in Afghanistan launched 7 missiles across the border into Pakistani villages near Miranshah in North Waziristan. Numerous civilians were killed and wounded in the attacks. Among the targets hit were the medressa [Islamic school] and home of Jalaluddin Haqqani, the elderly resistance leader who became famous during the Soviet occupation. His son says that he was in Afghanistan when the missiles hit and thus survived.
September 3: The most audacious U.S. attack was on the Pakistani village of Jalal Khei in South Waziristan. Four U.S. helicopters landed in the village at 3 AM and hit homes where Taliban fighters were allegedly living. Numerous civilians were killed in the attack but the ostensible Taliban targets were missed.
Meanwhile from within Pakistan, the U.S.-armed and funded military forces commanded by General Kayani continued to assault Islamic villages in Bajaur, Swat and Darra Adam Khel. Between Sept. 3-8, tanks, heavy artillery and helicopter gunships were used by the Pak military to pound villages suspected of supporting Islamic resistance. The people, with few exceptions, are supporting the Pakistani Taliban. As a result, ALL of Swat, Pakistan's scenic tourist area, has been placed under curfew.
On September 7, in Swat's Kubl area, Taliban fighters opened heavy fire on the army camp and police station set up in the area. In response the Pak army opened heavy artillery fire which hit civilian homes. In one such tragedy, a woman was killed in her home alng with two children, 12 people were injured. In the Kuza Bandi area people are protesting serious food shortages produced by army curfew.
The daily Ummat [urdu language] reports that Pak troops continued their attacks in the Darra Adam Khel area and used a helicopter to hit a Medressa [Islamic school] killing 2 people and injuring 10, including students. The Kohat tunnel in the area has been closed for 10 areas by the army, thus affecting the economy of the population.
In Bajaur, on September 8, Pak artillery continued to shell villages named Badan, Damidola, Dabar, Mulla Syed Banda as well as villages in the Khar area. [More than 400,000 people of Bajaur are homeless owing to the army offensive.]
Martyrdom attack: Massive Explosion: Sept. 7: In an attempt to take the battle to the settled areas under Pak control, a martyrdom operator hit a police check point on Kohat road near Peshawar. Pak investigators say he probably wanted to attack a target in the city but was stopped at the check point. Along with the police position, numerous shops and vehicles in the area were also wiped out. The latest death toll [Sept. 8] is 39 killed and 80 wounded, including the police force but also many innocent people. A top police officer was among those killed.

Afghanistan: U.S. Violates Ramadan
Heavy Fighting: Steadily Increasing U.S. losses: Taliban Counterattack U.S. Pincer Movement to Trap them
September 2-8: Fighting is raging across Afghanistan as U.S. forces try to trap Taliban fighters but find themselves under attack. Suddenly the U.S. moved its death toll, within 2 weeks, in Afghanistan from 499 to 580. Where these 81 elite troops were killed has not been revealed but comes in with Taliban claims of successes. [Two NATO troops were killed on Sept.6.]
The seriousness of the situation was brought out in a press conference at the Pentagon on September 5 by U.S. Major General Jeffrey Schloesser. He repeatedly assured reporters that "we're not losing this war." He tried to rationalize the civilian casualties caused by the U.S. air force in its attempts to hit the Taliban. "We do not deliberately target civilians," he said. He admitted that the U.S. is going to need many more troops to be able to continue its operations in Afghanistan. Some of the information the General gave under good questioning by the skeptical reporters seemed to be genuine and illustrative. He made these points
-
The armed resistance led by the Taliban numbers about 7,000 fighters [maximum 11,000]. [Compare with 90,000 NATO forces.]
-
Taliban are decentralized groups of fighters each with its own Shoora. A young Taliban leadership has emerged.
-
Though the Taliban are the main force, they are aided by:
-
Hikmatyar who has his own network of families from Kabul to the Pak border.
-
Haqqani's fighters who are now led by his son Siraj Haqqani.
-
Baitullah Mehsud and his Tehrik Taliban Pakistan who often cross into Afghanistan.
-
Al-Qaidah [more in advisory capacity than in fighting].
-
Foreign fighters mostly from Arab countries, Chechens and other Muslim countries.
-
Lashkar Taiba [LeT] fighters coming in from Kashmir.
Latest: Sept. 7: Taliban blew up the main police station in Kandahar city killing 2 policemen and wounding 29. A senior police commander was among those wounded.
The same day an Italian military convoy was attacked by the Taliban in western Herat. The Italians are not revealing their losses.
In Berlin, Germany, Afghans immigrants and Germans have formed a coalition which is demanding the return of German troops from Afghanistan. This follows an incident in Kunduz [northern Afghanistan] when German troops panicking at fears of a Taliban attack opened fire on civilians killing a woman and 2 children. [Elsewhere in the area, a German soldier was killed/]

Taraweeh Prayers
Muhammed (s.a.w) never prayed any prayer called Taraweeh prayer nor did he pray any prayer after the Isha prayer except the usual nawafil prayers, which he regularly prayed throughout the year and which for us is the Sunnah prayers (two rakayats). But Rasool (s.a.w) always prayed Tahjath prayers consisting of eight Rakayats and three rakayat witr. Tahjath prayer was Fard for Rasool (s .a.w) and for us it is sunnah. The below hadees very clearly states that Rasool (s.a.w) never prayed any special prayers in Ramadan.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith
Hadith 4.769 Narrated by
Abu Salama bin Abdur Rahman
That he asked 'Aisha "How was the prayer of Allah's Apostle in the month of Ramadan?" She replied, "He used not to pray more than eleven Rakat whether in Ramadan or in any other month. He used to offer four Rakat, let alone their beauty and length, and then four Rakat, let alone their beauty and length. Afterwards he would offer three Rakat. I said, 'O Allah's Apostle! Do you go to bed before offering the Witr prayer?' He said, 'My eyes sleep, but my heart does not sleep.' "
Since Tahjath was farl for Rasool (s.a.w), he prayed it as four rakayats but we cannot pray it as four rakayats; we can pray it as only 2 + 2 and so on and it would be sunnah for us. Only Farl prayers we can pray 4 Rakayats at a stretch; all other sunnah or nawafil prayers should be prayed 2 Rakayaths or 2+2 and so on. At this juncture, we should remember that Muhammed (s.a.w) though he did not pray any extra prayer in Ramadan, he advised us to pray as much prayer as possible each night to the extent that if anyone wants to pray the whole night, it is permissible only in Ramadan; in all other months it is a must that we should sleep for some time. And Allah is ready to pour-forth His Blessing on that person. So, the question does not at all arise whether one should pray eight rakayats or twenty rakayats; one can pray as many rakayats as is possible for him. As to how this prayer; i.e, the special night prayer in Ramadan was innovated, the hadees below clearly explains it:
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith
Hadith- 3.227 Narrated by
Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever prayed at night the whole month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven." Ibn Shi hab (a sub-narrator) said, "Allah's Apostle died and the people continued observing that (i.e. Nawafil offered individually, not in congregation), and it remained as it was during the Caliphate of Abu Bakr and in the early days of 'Umar's Caliphate." 'Abdur Rahman bin=2 0'Abdul Qari said, "I went out in the company of 'Umar bin Al-Khattab one night in Ramadan to the mosque and found the people praying in different groups. A man praying alone or a man praying with a little group behind him. So, 'Umar said, 'In my opinion I would better collect these (people) under the leadership of one qari (reciter) (i.e. let them pray in congregation!)'. So, he made up his mind to congregate them behind Ubai bin Ka'b. Then on another night I went again in his company and the people were praying behind their reciter. On that, 'Umar remarked, 'What an excellent Bid'a (i.e. innovation in religion) this is; but the prayer which they do not perform, but sleep at its time is better than the one they are offering.' He meant the prayer in the last part of the night (Tahjath prayer). (In those days) people used to pray in the early part of the night."
Here we should note that though Umar (r.a.) innovated this practice, he also said that it would be much better to sleep in this time; i.e., at the time when they pray the Ramadan special night congregational prayer, and pray the Tahjath prayer during which the people usually sleep. And we should also note that Umar (r.a.) did not join in the congregational prayer. For, he knew it would be best to emulate the Prophet, who prayed only Tahjath prayers. But if one is to pray the whole night also, it is permissible as Rasool (s.a.w) has permitted to do so. In the below hadees, it is clearly understood that during the time of Ramadan, for a few days, Rasool (s.a.w) conducted this Tahjath prayer in the Mosque and in congregation, but he did not make a practice of the same.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith
Hadith 2.229 Narrated by
Aisha(r.a) - mother of the faithful believers
One night Allah's Apostle offered the prayer (Tahjath) in the Mosque and the people followed him. The next night he also offered the prayer and too many people gathered. On the third and the fourth nights more people gathered, but Allah's Apostle did not come out to them. In the morning he said, "I saw what you were doing and nothing but the fear that it (i.e. the prayer) might be enjoined on you, stopped me from coming to you." And that happened in the month of Ramadan.
We know that the congregation conducted by Rasool (s.a.w) was during the time of Tahjath prayer as in another hadees, the Sahabas say Rasool (s.a.w) conducted the congregational prayer and recited long suras to the extent they feared that the suhr meals time (pre-dawn meals) would be over.
Allah's Apostle(s.a.w) said, "When it is the last third of the night, our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, descends every night to the (1st) heaven of the world and says, 'Is there anyone who invokes Me (demand anything from Me), that I may respond to his invocation; is there anyone who asks Me for something that I may give (it to) him; is there anyone who asks My forgiveness that I may forgive him?' "
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadit h
Hadith 8.333Narrated by
Abu Huraira(r.a)
At this juncture, it is very very important to bring it to your kind notice that praying Taraweeh prayers is allowed but it is absolutely useless when prayed behind an Imam, who takes payment for conducting the prayer and also behind an Imam, who belongs to divided or segregated groups for in either case it is HARAAM – i.e to take payment or gifts for the recitation of the Quran or to divide Islam into different groups – the one and only acceptable group is to be a MUSLIM and nothing else; like, - Hanafi, shafi, Maliki, Hanbali, JAQH, Tawheed, Shia, Sunni, etc. etc. and when Haraam is involved then Satan is involved and when Satan is involved you do not get any virtues for your ammals (deeds). It is far better to pray alone or form a Halaal Jamath and pray and benefit from the tremendous amount of virtues that Allah(swt) gives for every good deed in Ramadan.
To conclude; pray as much as you can and do as much good deeds as you can in Ramadan, but do not miss the Tahjath prayers. For, Tahjath prayer is the most pleasing to Allah after the Farl prayers. May Allah accept all our good deeds and make us perform the good deeds with utmost ease and comfort (ameen).
Please pass it on to as many Muslims as possible.
Kindly visit http://www.freewebs.com/basicofislam and clarify your doubts regarding this article in thelight of Quran and Hadees by reading the article Halaal and Haraam, I'm 100% sure you would Thank Allah Immensely and you would benefit Tremendously by it. Jazzakallah Khairan
Love & regards
