[vinnomot] Grand Gala Ceremony on Software Freedom and Open Content

Sorry, for resending. The previous attempt was partially successful!

Grand Gala Ceremony on Software Freedom and Open Content

The simple but auspicious ceremony with gorgeous announcement marked the event titled "Software Freedom and Open Content" organized by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN). The programme was held in the Teare Cafe of Liberation War Museum in Dhaka on 12th, May 2008. The programme incorporated the Bangladesh release of Ubuntu 8.04 and Language Movement picture album to WikiCommons. It also included declaration of publication under open licence of picture resources at Centre of Bangladesh Liberation War Studies, the picture of Bir Shreshtho Motiur Rahman and publication of all books by M Zafar Iqbal under open License. The gallant freedom fighter Mahbub Elahi Ranju (Bir Protik), uncovered the cover of the new release of Ubuntu Linux. In his inaugural speech, the freedom fighter expressed his thanks and gratitude to the new generation as they uphold the same spirit of freedom to prepare the nation for the information era.

In her touchy announcement, Ms Milli Rahman, the wife of Bir Shreshtho Motiur Rahman declared that all the pictures and documents of Shaheed Bir Shreshtho Motiur Rahman would now be the property of the humankind. She told that Motiur Rahman fought for the nation's liberation and thus became the property of the nation. She announced with the help from BdOSN that all pictures and associated documents of Bir Shreshtho Motiur Rahman would be published in the Internet under Open License. Major (Retd.) Kamrul Hasana Bhuiyan, Chairman of the Centre for Bangladesh Liberation War Studies announced that the liberation war resources they have collected so far, would be released under same Open License. Prof. Dr Rafiqul Islam, who has released his Language Movement pictures into Wiki Commons earlier, shared his experience of picturing those events. He shared his days at the war camp by Pakistani Janta in 1971 and urged the new generation to continue upholding the spirit of the liberation war. The renowned novelist M Zafar Iqbal declared that from now on, digital version of all of his books will be published in the Internet so that readers around the globe could enjoy his books from anywhere in the world. In a symbolic presentation, he handed over the book "Dipu Number 2" to the General Secretary of BdOSN. Earlier in his welcome speech, Mr Munir Hasan, briefly explained the activity of BdOSN to the audience. He informed the audience that BdOSN is a network of volunteers who work for the liberty of software and information. He said that to have a knowledge based society, we do not have any option other than to adopt open source philosophy. Core member of BdOSN, Ms Lusha Mirza conducted the programme.

[vinnomot] New Age Editorial - A befitting analysis of CA Dr. Fakhruddin's speech

   Editorial
Chief adviser throws down the
gauntlet before politicians
The chief adviser's address to the nation on Monday night was carefully crafted and predictably focused on the upcoming dialogue between his government and the political parties, which, he announced, would commence on May 22. He made an impassioned plea to the political parties to come to the dialogue with an open mind and sought to assure them that his administration did not hold any grudge against anyone and would keep an open mind during the talks. However, he left the political parties with hardly any space to keep an open mind, as he detailed what appears to be a 'to-do' list for them and did not take into cognisance any of the demands and expectations voiced by them in the run-up to his address to the nation.
First, one of the major demands of all the major parties is that the government should immediately withdraw the state of emergency. But the chief adviser made it clear that the state of emergency would not be withdrawn and only certain relevant provisions of the Emergency Powers Rules might be either relaxed or suspended as and when his government deemed it fit, that too on conditions the political parties might not be comfortable with. Second, the political parties have insisted that the government should not hold local government elections before the parliamentary polls. Again, the chief adviser paid no heed to the demand and iterated that his government would help the Election Commission conduct elections to some city corporations, municipalities and union and upazila parishads before the elections to the ninth Jatiya Sangsad, which, he said, would be held in the third week of December. Third, the political parties have demanded that Khaleda Zia, Sheikh Hasina and other political parties, who, they say, have been illegally detained, should be released before the dialogue. The chief adviser did not bother to make even a passing remark on the issue.
Moreover, the chief adviser said the political parties should promise not to question the results of the general elections, which would be presided over by an Election Commission, which has already made itself controversial through various actions and inactions and whose credibility remains eminently questionable. When the chief adviser could so readily put paid to the aspirations of the political parties, it would be rather foolhardy to expect them to be enthusiastic about the dialogue. In such circumstances, one can perhaps only hope against hope that the talks would be fruitful.
If the chief adviser was inconsiderate about the expectations of the political parties, he was cruel about the aspirations of the people at large. There was not the faintest indication as to how his government planned to revive the economy that it itself had rendered stagnant through a series of arbitrary actions. The piece de resistance of his speech came when he claimed that his government was committed to establishing the rule of law. With the people's fundamental rights suspended under a state of emergency, complaints galore of the judiciary not being allowed to function freely, mass media forced to work in a suffocating environment created by illegal interference almost on a routine basis by a security intelligence agency, such talks surely come as empty rhetoric.
Overall, the chief adviser's address to the nation puts the political parties in a tight corner. They have been given two options – to concede to the wishes of the interim government or go to the people to have their demands realised.

[vinnomot] Re: [notun_bangladesh] Whic newspaper is reporting the truth ?

Friends

The tragedy of Bangladesh is that no one who has some influence over it's affairs do speak h/her mind. They are nothing but "Tota Pakhi". Most of the people near to power are somewhat enemy of the country and and become friend when out of power.
To my understanding the main criminals are the so-called Journalist and the news papers. They are very much responsible to divide the country on party line  and ideals and spread hatred  and instigated to destroy the peace and serenity. I do not care who says what and I will hold on to my opinion as a conscious citizen .

The saner section of the country who does not belong to any bloody gharana of filthy idol worshipping politics do firmly believe that it is mostly BAL gharana concubine News papers and their criminal editors/journalist and nirob ku jibis are totally responsible to create the gory present situation. These are the criminals who welcomed the one party rule(BAKSAL)  and tyranny in guise of BAL demo and made the country subjugative to indian hegemonistics  rule.

On the otherhand none of the BAL gharana papers or k.jibis ever raised a single voice against the bestial acts of Bestial Security  Force(BSF) of their beloved Pronob Da rather the stupid abed kha questioned how our herioc BDR got the audacity to kill his fathers coward soldiers ?????

Now at the difficult juncture of the nation the atels and journalist are disecting the CTG words and activities into many many fragments and smelling shit(as BAL loves SHIT) shedding crocodiles tears for demo. The countries intectual arena is converged with spinless pro indian dalals and nothing sane could be expected from them.
Friends, if you carefully watch then you will mark that in the name jounalism AGa the pacha eating bhikhkha from his british Dads but fukkaiing BAL chunga defaming the nation. There are many many quislings are  scattered in UK/USA/Canada/NZ/Austarlia to undo the sanctity, entity and sovereignty of Bangladesh and beniefit their fathers indi.

So, conscious patriotic readers will have to make their own assessment of the situation and create awareness among the people they come accross about the  vicious affect of the venomenous anti Bangladesh parties and the concubines.

King changed his mind and told the jester that grapes are the best of all fruits to this the jester gave details  all the good qualities of the grapes. King in disgust asked the jseter which one is correct. To this the jester replied " I am your majesty's court jester not of the grapes" . Do you see the relevance of the story with our newspapers.

Which daughter  Monju? Is this the driven out by her husband for wrong doing ?
She is capable daughter of of capable dad who changes bed to suit his need !!!!!!
And about Sutangso what to say. These clowns are against Bangladesh since day one as independent Bangladesh did not bow down to their fathers land indi. So, they alongwith some Sharmeo  jibis with Tilak and mongol dip areout to destroy the image of Bangladesh.

Be it known that majority of Bangladeshis hate Jamat as they hate BAL and BNP as none of these parties are for the interest of the poeple and country as large. Jamat and its politics are not supported but they are in no way terrorist just like  Sutangsos father country's(indi) BJP/RSS/Shiv Sena are out and out terrorist and blood thirsty vampires.

[vinnomot] AWL will be voted to power in Januray 2009 in Bangladesh

Dear All,

I still believe that AWL will be in power if they abandon Lati and Boida mentality and work to help under developed country like Bangladesh.  I also believe that we need to be united around who ever win in the election in December 2008 for the sake of the country and her development.

Too much time has been spent on bickering and time is running out.

All,

Many of you might think that what the hack I am talking about,  or am  I taking any side?   This is my personal analysis after all the indications that are coming from Bangladesh.  People in Bangladesh have little option/choice but putting AWL in power in the next election.  People has lost confidence in BNP leadership what they have seen mountain of corruption particularly in last 5 years,  maybe earth has been shaken by their amount of corruption (for one case TK 50 Crore bribery,  this might be placed in world history).

AWL is not any different when we talk about corruption,  we can argue they did little corruption since they were in power for only 5 years.  Present situation is in favor of AWL if they have brain and they can use it properly.

Advice for AWL:

1) I hope that AWL will participate in the MP election without Hasina and they can win without Hasina in the next general election.  I predict that AWL will release Hasina from jail under amnesty even if she is convicted.

2)  AWL should bring new blood in their party providing nomination in various areas who will able to bring new thing in the table for Bangladesh. Atl east 25% of AWL candidates should be new energetic, educated,  understand international politics and economy to move this country forward.

3) Former and Current AWL supporters should move their attitude from Jihadist to liberal.  What I mean by Jihadist is that most of them can not think outside of the box and they can not take criticism from others.  Keep in mind that this is a power sharing situation in Bangladesh,  nobody is taking any food from your plate,  so take it easy,  have passions, respect others for their opinion,  be open minded to listen and take good things from others.

5) Once AWL is in power,  I hope that they will not spend next 5 years talking and working on who is the father of nation and who is not,  who is Rajakar and who is not,  let others branch of Bnagladesh Govt to take these issues as deemed necessary,  think ahead for Bangladesh, not just past. AWL should not start changing names of streets, airport etc, to Bonhgobondhu SK Mujib after they are in power again.  There are many real issues in Bangladesh like creating more jobs,  poverty reduction, increase the buying power of people, expand export industries,  increase electricity production,  drill more oil wells in bay of Bengal, build infrastructure etc.  I can go on and on...

5) AWL should not reverse all the CTG policies for their benefit and AWL shoul keep going with corruption drive if AWL really care about Bangladesh and its people. If AWL takes my advice, AWL can be a successful ruler in the next 5 years in Bangladesh to move this country forward.

Advice fro BNP:

1) I am predicting BNP will be divided in 2-3 parties.  I personally do not see any good leaders in BNP who can take the helm and move BNP forward.  I personally think that most of them shared corrupt money either a grass root leaders or ministers during BNP rule.  I personally lost confidence on them.

2) I do like former and current BNP supporters for their liberal stand and openness where they do not act like Jihadist, you know what I have meant.

3)  Khalida will be released from jail in February 2009 under AWL in power after she retire from the politics even if she is convicted on corruption (just my prediction)

Lets talk about honest candidates in the next MP election.  We argue that candidates should be honest but this is not enough for Bangladesh.  Next MP candidate have to be honest, educated, street smart too.  For example I can be the nicest man in the earth but if I do not help others.  My honesty will not bring any good to the society.

In Bangladesh politics, honesty will not bring any food on the table if she or he does not understand international politics,  does not know what is good or bad policies,  what is the  vision of Bangladesh,  if she or he does not know how it influence other countries to give Bangladesh share in WTO, WHO, UN, etc.  So the bottom line is that we need honest candidates but also we need street smart, visionary, and love for Bangladesh.  If I put a high school teacher in politics , he is honest but he may not able to bring any new things for Bangladesh.  I hope that I was able to clarify my points.

Anyway  I have laid down my prediction for the next 14 months and I hope this will help others.  Don't take personally if I offend any parties,  this is just pure prediction and advice for Bangladesh.

Mr. Salahuddin Ayubi,

As far as I know,Muslim women cannot marry Jewish/Christian men who are followers of other Prophets like Moses,Jesus, but  Muslim men can marry Christian or Jewish women. Is that correct ?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

thought that Muslims can marry christians and jews, who are ahle kitab, without converting. But in todays context jew are not generally acceptable to most Muslims.

My quesation to our Diplomat 55 years old Miss Ismat Jahan:We know the person she is going to marry is a Dutch national. But We donot know  his religious belief. Is he a non-muslim? If he is a non muslim, is he going to convert to Islam in order to marry a muslim women? If not than 'Islamically' this marriage is not acceptable. Islamically A muslim woman cannot marry a non-musim man. If he coverts to Islam we should congratulate bothI think this matter has to be resolved by our Diplomat sooner than later.
