CAB Chittagong Organized Human Chain to Protest punishment of Price hiking and milk adulteration, import ban baby food

 

Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Chittagong organized a human Chain infront of Chittagong Press Club on August 31 and 1st September '08 at infront of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Agrabad Chittagong and demanding punished the importers and distributors and syndicate business gangs who involved in unfair trade and making price hiking of essential food items, adulteration of food, marketing of unexpired milk powder in Bangladesh. CAB Chittagong President S M Nazer Hossain was presided over the gathering, amongst others representative from civil society and professional groups were took part the human chain and gathering. The speakers demanding Starship, Marks, Redcow, Diploma branded milk powder importuners and distributors import low quality, adulterated, unexpired milk powder and baby food with low price and making money to introduce it from Australia and few ill minded business men hiking more price of essential items and food stock, making gangs of syndication to making money by price hiking. The people are seriously suffering by taking it for its own and for children for making baby foods, sweets etc which is cause for cancer, diabetics, stroke and other harmful diseases.

 

But the government monitoring agency who take over the issues license are motivated for ill purposes and the business gangs continue their illegal & unfair business. The speakers demanded to punished the gangs and cancel the license and ban their product and assets and control the essential food item and control the markets.  Speakers also blamed that the business gangs also misinterpreted the open market economy policy and price money fixed by themselves with out consultation with the authorities. when any commodities price are raise in the world market they hike their price but when it fall down they are not cut their price.

 

The speakers also criticize the ill activities and making networks by the culprit business syndicate to maintain their allies in law enforcing agencies, media, politicians and administration.

A large number of men and women were participated the human chain. CAB announced a month long programme to protest the syndicate gangs, price hike and unexpired milk powder importer through submitting memorandums to Chief Advisor, Chief of Army, discussions with various professional groups and avoid the goods from culprit importers etc.
