The policy statement on the subject "CPP as to why supporting Kurd's Panel in the election of the Supreme Court Bar Association scheduled on 28th October, 2008" as issued by the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) for the information of public and press is as under:- Communist Party of Pakistan and Communist Lawyers Forum (CLF) jointly decided to support the Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan and Hamid Khan Group Nominee's Ali Ahmad Kurd, Ayaz Swati, Saeed Akhtar Khan, Shaukat Pirzada, Zulfiqar Khalid Maluka and Sheikh Ahsan-ud-din in the Election of the Supreme Court Bar Association, scheduled on 28th of October, 2008. This was categorically stated in a policy statement by the Central Chairman of CPP, Engineer Jameel Ahmad Malik here today. He requested all and specially those lawyers who have socialist and communist ideology to kindly vote for Kurd's panel on 28th October polls. Engineer Jameel said that Ali Ahmad Kurd and its panel fully believe in the restoration of all deposed judges including Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and termed November 3, 2007 action of than Military Dictator Musharraf as highly unconstitutional when 62 judges were sacked. Kurd's panel fully believe in the speedy justice, supremacy of law and are voicing for independence of judiciary whereas the panel of Pakistan Peoples Party and Peoples Lawyers Forum led by M. Zafar are a team of those lawyers, who are highly against the restoration of the remaining deposed judges including CJP Iftikhar Muhamad Chaudhry and they are all pro- PCO Judges and against the independence of Judiciary and supremacy of law just due to fear of NRO and their vested interests. The CPP Chairman said that the two panels of lawyers have very clear bifurcations this time. The one led by M. Zafar has full backing of the Federal Law Minister Farooq A. Naik, Attorney General of Pakistan Latif Khoosa and Senator Babar Awan and that of Kurd's panel is being vigorously supported by the Ex-President like Aitzaz Ahsan, Munir Malik, Hamid Khan and Justice ® Tariq Mahmood and other democrat's and progressive lawyers. He said the fundamental difference between two panels is very clear and evident. The one led by Kurd's is for complete independence of judiciary whereas that led by M. Zafar has a support of President Zardari and Federal Government and is against the complete independence of judiciary and restoration of the remaining deposed judges including CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry due to fear of NRO and other vested interests. Engineer Jameel said that CPP and CLF are supporting Kurd' panel on account of its clear agenda and manifesto whereas his rival pro-establishment panel of M. Zafar lacks such qualifications. He vehemently said that a person like M. Zafar, who has backing of the Government and is against the independence of complete judiciary and is a candidate only for personal interest, can how, he is then sincere to the lawyers' community, if elected to the top slot of SC Bar Association. |
