It happened in 1608. A small unknown land next to the river BuriGanga was converted into a garrisson town, by Mughal Subedaar Islam Khan. And named after Emperor Jahangir. A fort was built (Lalbagh) to fend off the Marathi and Mogh thugs. With time, the unknown garrison town became todays mega city Dhaka. Inhabited by 120 million people, the city bears the pride to be the capitol of Independant Bangladesh. This year Dhaka will be celebriting is 400th Birthday. Happy Birthday to the beloved city of millions, the bearer of many historic events. Please share your own/collected info/momories about Dhaka to wish her the best in the future on this auspicious occation. Musfique.
