Re: [vinnomot] Re: [notun_bangladesh] Debate over Sk Hasina's parole

Though this CTG is torturing BNP more, but they have given some very useful weapon  for anti- AL people to use during election.

Your attached Audio is one such Audio

Actually BNP should thank CTG   for making pro-BNP people more sympathetic to zia family and unite nationalists supporters  by their favore to AL.

It seems that a heated debate has been going on for quite sometime, which might have lead the ventilation of deep emotions and ended up in personal attacks. Which to me is quite unfortunate.

Such debate was inspired by the news of AL leader and ex PM Sk Hasina's release from jail under parole. True the process which lead such parole, did give enough reasons to raise quite a few eyebrows. Similarly, the biased attitude of keeping ex PM and BNP leader Khaleda Zia along with his two gravely ill sons Tarek & Coco in prison, also have tarnished the nuetral image of the current CTG.

Problem had started when a diehard AL fan started opposing the release of Khaleda & her sons, under the same pretext of Sheikh Hasina's release. His argument was, since Khaleda and her sons were involved in mass corruption, they do not qualify for the parole.

Fact is in some corruption cases both the ex PM's has been accused equaly (GATCO, NAIKO etc). So if nuetral sense prevails then the CTG must adopt the same process that they have applied for Sheikh Hasina for K. Zia as well.

I afraid such logic doesnot convince the AL fans, hence a heated debate have occured.

Most of the regular contributors here are not the suporters of either party. Yet sometimes speaking the logic have earned them the tittle of "RAJAKAR-BNP" . As I recall the call for unity by Col Millat from Rajshahi, he have seen non vocal against such irrational writeups, let alone condemnation.

A leader is usualy judged by his/her role in the past. K. Zia doesnot bear a quite bright career as PM,  but Shek Hasinas past is not very bright either. Just because she was born to BongoBondhu' s family, it doesnot relieve her liabilites to perform as expected. Specialy her performance should have exceeded everyones expectations, to recover the lost image of Awami Leage.

Unfortunately that didnot happen. Time to time her distastefull harsh comments and remarks and decissions, have costed the party dearly. As I recall, in 1991 parliamentory elections when  AL was expected to win ( as hyped by the media), Sheikh Hasina's brief TV appearence had turned the table in favor of BNP. Because instead of focusing on national issues, she choose to attack Late President Ziaur Rahman and BNP on personal level.

Her deeds are also a big obsticle for AL and the nation to achive a respectable place in the hearts and mind of the people. Her mind had changed in just 24 hours to participate in 1986 elections under Gen Ershad. Whereas her comments was, any party who participate in such elections would be considered as National Traitor.

AL got into power in 1996 elections after Sheik Hasina had pledged the people to forgive her party's past mistakes and errors. Surprisingly, AL under her leadership was plundged into deeper errors and made the life of the people miserable, after they won the elections. Though there might be some reasonable excuses for the 1st AL govt's misrule during 1972-1975, but there was not any  for AL to mishandle the rule from 1996-2001.

One may observe the following as her flawed performance as the PM of Bangladesh:

1. She was busy in acquiring doctorate degrees in expense of unknown personalities.

2.  She have forced the conversion of the names of different places and instituitions in favor of her late family members.

3. In the name of attending family members (US resident son and daughter), she have spend her valuable time in USA as long as 30 days, which can be branded as her negligence towards her duty as the PM.

4. She have entrusted the residents of Gopalganj, her native place, with high administrative positions regardless of their ability/qualificati ons. Her close relatives have enjoyed unconditional power to interfere in all sectors of Bangladesh's  legislative and administrative branches. (Such mistake by the 1st AL Govt played the key role to bring down the mamoth image of Shek Mujib to a bare minimum).

5. Due to her patronizing the god fathers ( A.H Abdullah-her cousin, Joynal Hazari, Haji Makbul, Shamim Osman, ABM Iqbal, Haji Selim, Altaf Hossain Golandaz, Abu Taher , just to name a few), she have lost the confidence of the peace loving general public of Bangladesh.

As the chief of the opposition, Shek Hasina's performance was even worse. Instead of  follwing any constructive role, all the five years of AL as the opposition, people of Bangladesh have experienced the horror of destruction of their personal and public properties along with terrorist activities. Let alone the thousands of working hours wasted for no good reason.

11 innocent passengers of a bus was burned alive by Awami Juboleage activists under direct orders by Nanok-Azam,  to force people to submission to their call for strike the next day. And Sheikh Hasina as the party chief was informed about the incidence. No action was taken against the perperaters of such killings, rather her denial to apprehend the terrorists, qualifys her to be tried as the murder accomplice.

Bangladesh have experienced the horrors of mass bombing by JMB and HUJI. Surprisingly enough, the chief of JMB was a close relative of Mirza Azam , the Gen Secretary of Awami Jubo Leage. A couple of days back another welknown terrorist Tapan Malitha of Jonojudhdha had been killed in RAB encounter. And his closest partner Rita aka Rikta was the sister of Meherpur Awami Leage's  Gen. Secretary as well. Are these just coincidence?

These incidents prove that, Awami Leage is not very concerned about electing/selecting their activists/local leaders in grass root level. And Sheikh Hasina as the party chief under no circumtances can avoid the blame.

As I recall Mr Ayubi's writeup, he observed it correctly that, for the majority of Bangladeshis, it doesnot matter who are ruling them, as long as their daily needs is somewhat satisfactory. Not a good sign, because such attitude reflect the failure of our current political leadership, and may bear an invitation for an foreign invansion.

Awami Leage may enjoy a grass root level of organized supporters but the silent majority is what all matters. No wonder in last 3 parliamentopry elections we have seen how the political stage have changed in favor of two major political parties.

There might be some rationale to release Shek Hasina for medical treatment and send her abroad. What guarantee does the CTG have that Sheikh Hasina would return to face justice, after her treament? It has been more days gone than allowed, since Awami Leage's Gen Secretary Abdul Jalil left the country for treatment abroad. Surprisingly, Sheikh Hasina was seen attending numerous political gatherings in USA. It doesnot prove AL's claim about the seriousness of her sickness. One must wonder if medical treament abroad is just a pretext to escape justice?

The CTG must be very carefull not to tarnish its already thinned nuetral image further among the mass. If  they fail to convict the wrong doers, the corrupt criminals would only be more interested to perform in full speed in coming future. And when such unthinkable occurs, the people might get interested in street justice, rather than seeking such via judiciary. Which would not bear good news to any corrupt criminals or for the law and order scenerio of Bangladesh.
