The Maulana [Bhashani] said in a July 26, 1971 Press Statement:

"Since the inception of Pakistan, I have been harping on the same theme

- ushering in of an independent, soverign socialist Bangladesh for economic,

social and cultural freedom of Hindus, Muslims, Christians and tribals."
