According to press report Bangladesh's UN Ambassador Miss Ismat Jahan recently married a foreigner with active support from the Foreign MInistry of Bangladesh. Until now there was restriction for Bangladeshi Diplomats to marry foreignters. Since this care takers took power this care takers changed the rule by permiting Debopiyo to represnt Bangladesh at the Genva mission although Debopriyo has a foregner wife. Sensitive diplomatioc postings like the United Nations should have been carefully taken before takling any decision to permit Miss Ismat Jahan to marry a foreigners. Our neighbours India and Pakistan still following this that rule 'not to pemit any Diplomate to marry foreigner in the greater interest of the country. This is necessary for safeguarding national interest.
Some critics mentioned earlier that her(Ismat Jahan's) strong connection with the Bangladesh Foreign Affaires Advisor helped her get this special permission to marry a foreigner.
My personal opinion is that National intrerest should remain above personal interest. Unelected care takers decision should be changed by the future elected government for the greater interest of Bangladesh. State secrecy must be protected by our Diplomates.If they are married to foreigners that secrecy might not be well protected.
