[vinnomot] THE SARI SOLDIERS-Winner of 2008 HRWIFF Nestor Almendros Award-Premieres June 20

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am writing from Women Make Movies (WMM), a non-profit media arts
organization, to let you know that THE SARI SOLDIERS is the recipient
of the 2008 Human Rights Watch International Film Festival (HRWIFF)
Nestor Almendros Award and will have its North American Premiere as
the festival centerpiece this Friday, June 20th at the Walter Reade
Theatre in New York City, with a discussion with the filmmaker to
follow.

Filmed over three years, during the most historic and pivotal time in
Nepal's modern history, THE SARI SOLDIERS is an extraordinary story of
six women's courageous efforts to shape Nepal's future in the midst of
an escalating civil war. THE SARI SOLDIERS intimately delves into the
extraordinary journey of these women on all sides of the conflict,
through the democratic revolution that reshapes the country's future.
You can read more about the film here:
