[vinnomot] CPP TO TAKE PART IN LAWYER'S LONG MARCH FROM MULTAN TO ISLAMABAD.

(ATTOCK – 6TH JUNE 2008)     The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) chaired by Central Chairman of the CPP, Engineer Jameel Ahmad Malik has publicly announced to participate and support the lawyers long march scheduled on 10th June from Multan to Islamabad.

 

This was announced by the press release issued by the Communist Party Secretariat here today.

 

As per programme, the Punjab President of the CPP will leads its party workers and would participate in the lawyers long March from Multan to Lahore whereas from Lahore onwards, the long march will also be joined by the CPP Central Chairman Engineer Jameel Malik along with its other party comrades.       


 The CPP had resolved to support the lawyers' movement for the restoration and independence of the judiciary.


"We have endorsed the lawyers' movement in the best national interest," the CPP Chairman said.


 The Communist Party also demanded that Pervaz Musharraf should be tried under Article 6 for taking unconstitutional steps like imposition of emergency on
Nov 3, 2007, sacking of 60 superior judges and then unlawfully detaining them with their families in their houses for more than five months.


The CPP lauded the courageous role of lawyer's leaders Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Ali Ahmad Kurd, Munir Malik, Hamid Khan, Latif Afridi, Justice (R) Rasheed Rizvi and Justice (R) Tariq Mahmood Khan in their historic struggle against the dictatorial role of Musharraf and for the restoration and independence of judiciary.
