WASSIYYAT OF A MOTHER TO HER DEPARTING DAUGHTER ON THE OCCASION OF HER NIKAH
Be contented with whatever you receive for this will give you peace
Be obedient to your husband and pay heed to whatever he says for this will bring you the Mercy of Allah
He must not see in you untidiness nor carelessness and remember that water has the best fragrance in the absence of perfume and Surmah adds the most beauty
Be prepared for him at meal times for the heat of hunger is inflammable
Be quiet when he is asleep for the disturbance of sleep infuriates
Safeguard his assets for which he will trust you
Do not disclose any of his secrets for if you do so he will not spare you when he retaliates
Dare not be joyous when he is worried, for this will be wrong on your part, and dare not display sadness when he is happy for this will breed hatred
And remember, My Blessed Daughter, that you will attain all this only if you give preference to his likes over yours and his desires above yours in all things you like and dislike
And, My Beloved Daughter, be mindful of your duties to Allah at all times
Give priority to the orders of Allah above all things for this will secure Jannat for you
And remember not to obey anyone if his orders be contrary to the demands of Allah
