[vinnomot] Re: [notun_bangladesh] Islam and Modernization of Bangladesh

Dear Mr Aslam

as you have been writing in the net for quite a few years, a more matured approach was expected of you. Specialy when you have launched personal attacks on Mr Mohiuddin about his profession etc. Similarly you have called Mr Mostofa Kamal as a "liar" without giving him a chance to present his source of info about the involvement of Haji Selim/Dr Iqbal.

Do you not beleive in ones personal right to express his own mind? If a senior writers are behaving this irresponsibly, then what kind of example we are setting for your next generation?
As a cowriter and a wellwisher, it was just a friendly suggestions.

Defintely call to boycott the TV is extreme. At the same time it is also true that, there are certain programs (foreign) which doesnot resemles our own culture and heritage but, puts ill effects on our society, specialy the young ones. Such programs draw false impression about what mordernizm  truely is. Rather encourage the young and old ones to illusionive moral destruction.

Based on you wirteup about Islam and Modernization of Bangladesh, may I ask you a few questions?

1. How do you define mordernization?

2. Since when the Mullahs have started to dictate our social life? As we see that, even important social occations like marriage, the people follow tradition not the religion.

2. If you cannot see the social progress in Bangladesh towards "modernization", then I wonder what is your source to come to an conclusion to negate such?

3. There is no secret that Bangladesh enjoys all sort of modern social comforts, same as the citizen of the 1st world, such as luxury housing & transportation & communications, fast foods, alcohl & drug use, adultery, live together, dating, wife swapping, pornography, group sex etc.

Err I confess gay gatherings or social acceptance of gays or gay marriage are yet to be accepted as normal practices in our society, as the number of gay and bisexual people are not as scarce as before, thanks to the mordernization of the world.

So why does it matter that what an backdated Mullah says? He or like minded couldnot do shit about such progress towards our social mordernization, still  a bunch of leading news  publications along with a handfull writers have declared crusade against them.

Truely amazing ! Unless the agenda is total eradiction of Islam and our thousand years old heritage, culture and tradition, there is no base of such fear of Mullahs.

I am sure with such pace of social mordernization, we could be able to produce writers like Harold Robinson or DH Lawrence or Balzack, and produce movies like "Tabooo", "Deep Throat",  or reality based TV shows like " Dhaka Girls gone Wild" or "Chittagong's Desparate Houswives" etc.

I regret that, the BIG ones only export the socialy destructive cultural examples, not the technology and science to countries like Bangladesh. If they did, then I could gather myself to support the current Mordernization effort of the West.

Here is an example of how the Religion-traders in the name of
Islam is putting road blocks in natural social changes and progress
in Bangladesh: The so-called religious (Pir)  stalwart the Pir
of Chormonai declared the Television as "Saitan's Box"
and instructed his followers not to watch TV. Interestingly
enough, although these "Islamist" do not watch TV inpublic,
they always invite the TV reporters to publicise their
news widely.
