As an U.S. ally Saudis might be able to become a nuclear nation to face the challenge of two other nuclear power of the mIddle East(Israel and possibly Iran). They have the resouce to become a nuclear power to protect its interest. If notopenly they might do it secretly with the blessing of USA as Isarel did.
