[vinnomot] Re: [notun_bangladesh] What can we do against Bangladesh lover foreign diplomats?

Dear Musfique Bhai,
Thanks for your article.
We have not  so far heard a journalist of bangladesh question the foreign diplomats wheather they would be happy or not if our country wants to play  the same role in the internal matter of their country. This is very unfortunate I think.
We need more(in number) patriotic journalists.
If the frreign diplomats know that people of bangladesh are very much concious. and dead against any itervention then they  may be refrain from this kinds of intervention.

Foreign Intrusion: What could we do to curb it?

As as inportant contributor to numerous blogs, Mr Aminul Islam has posed a well timed question about our role to curb the foreign intervention in our national arenas.

I am not sure how may of the general public are concerned on this matter. But surely it doesnot make any impression, even a bit,  on the group of people who dominate our political and decision making arenas.

Please note that, it is our own political figures who were the first to 'invite' foreign diplomats
to solve our own political problems. If I recall it correctly, the first foreign emissary invited for such a purpose was Sir Ninian Stephen from the Commonwealth.

Since then, it became an unannounced "responsibility" for the foreign diplomats to get involved in our internal matters, contrary to the 1961 Vienna convention. Their act resembles with the ones during the rule of East India Company/British Monarchs of India.

It should also be noted that, though the role of these foreign diplomats are over enthusiastic and permissive,  but equaly apathetic and dogmatic when it comes to international matters. Such as, Bangladesh's huge trade deficit with others, inhuman treatment of expatriot Bangladeshi workers, border disputes, harrasment of visa expectants, false and premeditated propaganda against Bangladesh, just to name a few.

Yet they are not at fault, as we as a nation is responsible for inviting foreign intrusion in our life. Our disrespect for each other, desparation to gain politicaly/personaly by any means, cheap emotions for political ideology/leaders, have caused serious flaws in our national charecter. Hence absence of self dignity and self respect loomed to such an extent that, we got used to foreign interventions.

Violent protests against such or diplomatic measures ( foreign diplomats can be sent home if they violate Vienna convention act of 1961) would prove fatal for Bangladesh.

Best remedy would correct our own shortcomings. Such as, change the habbit of disrespecting opposing views (sometimes with violence and terror), mud throwing at each other.

People must be open for dialogue with a mind set of mutual respect and understanding. I beleive when such Mamoth is achieved, the foreigners would think twice before making any intrusive comments or suggestions. Afterall people respect the one who has strong dignity and self respect.

In order to achive such dramatic change in our national charecter, personalities loyal to foergn personals or land, and defiant of national interest should face serious public outrage. Obcourse that is a extreme measure and can only be suggested if every peacefull means are exhausted to bring common sense amongst us.
